The Lake Conroe Fire Department, (LCFD), is located at 15663 Highway 105 West, near Montgomery, Texas. LCFD serves approximately 62 square miles with three stations staffed 24 hours a day. A fourth station is in the planning phase. LCFD consist of a Fire Chief, Assistant Chief, Training Officer, 33 full time firefighters and 3 part time firefighters. LCFD has 5 Engines, 2 Boosters, Ladder Truck, Tanker, Utility Truck, Fire Boat and a Structural Collapse Rescue Trailer. All Fulltime Firefighters are members of the Montgomery County Professional Firefighters Association Local 4183.
The Lake Conroe Fire Department was started in 1965 and was called Lake Conroe Forest Volunteer Fire Department. Station 31 was located at 505 Columbia River Rd in Lake Conroe Forest. In 1976 the Fire Depts. name was changed to Lake Conroe Volunteer Fire Department and was governed by RFPD#3 (Rural Fire Prevention District). In 1995 LCFD changed to ESD#3 (Emergency Services District), and the building of the new station 31 was started. In 1996 LCFD moved to the new station 31 at 15663 Hwy 105 West.
Station 32 is located at 13959 FM 2854 and was originaly built in 1991 as a volunteer station. It consisted of a small day room, small kitchen, 1 dorm room and one small bathroom with a shower. In 2009, it was remodeled and now consist of a larger dayroom, larger kitchen, 2 officer dorms, 4 firefighter dorms, 2 large bathrooms with showers, a watch office, workout room and a gear room. The expansion was much needed for now the station is staffed with full time firefighters.
The Lake Conroe Fire Department responds to fire, rescue, and medical emergencies. LCFD also has mutual aid agreements with the neighboring departments in Montgomery County, Texas.
